Geraldine’s Place – Immersive exhibit featuring the art of the late Geraldine Hickerson PLUS art on display by Melanie Hickerson • Kim Eitze • Helen Mary V. Marek

Geraldine’s Place showcases the self-expression and art created and at once displayed at the home of Austinite Geraldine Hickerson (1919-2014). Intro Video
Art 84 at Richcreek features the fascinating immersive exhibit Geraldine’s Place. The colorful interior of the magical mobile home of Austin artist, Geraldine Hickerson (1919-2014), will be created in the here and now. This unforgettable exhibit will feature a jewel box of the vibrant colorful art painted on the walls, floor, ceilings, fixtures, and furniture of Geraldine’s home — not with the original plaster and paint, but with projections of light. Geraldine was not only a wonderful artist, but raised eight very creative children, some of whose art and photos are included in the exhibit.
Daughter Melanie Hickerson’s thoughtful and colorful paintings are metaphors in paint for breath and life. Granddaughter, Kim Eitze has a variety of decorative items, wearable art, and giftables, plus hula hoops. Both women are popular Austin-based artists and favorites of Art 84’s earlier shows. Art and photos by other Hickerson family members will also be on display.
In addition, guest artist Helen Mary Vanston Marek will display her beautiful art created using upcycled materials. As Director of Art 84, she will help run the event at this lovely mid-century modern home at 2713 Richcreek Road.
