The fluid nature of social space can be compared to that of liquid. It is clear that, much like turbulence in a stream of water, people can act in unpredictable ways. Through this exhibit, we seek to challenge the notions and preconceptions that determine how we think about social and passive spaces. It is at the intersection of art and observable science and has been heavily influenced by the work of Michael Benedict and his research regarding Presence Fields and Isovists. This interactive immersive space and accompanying material seek to bring these abstract concepts into the world of artistic expression.
Interval Design
This project is in collaboration with Interval Design, an Austin-based parametric design and fabrication company seeking to advance the artistic potential of computer-aided design, specifically as it pertains to programming and construction. The Interval team, Harrison Marek and Troy Candelaria, have helped deliver numerous parametrically derived constructions and installations and are always eager to consult or take a leading role in the development and delivery of projects at all scales.
